Welcome to the Richard J Wilson Sports
Foundation Website
The foundation was set up in the memory of Richard Wilson (see
below) to provide funds each year to support youth sports organisations
and individuals in the locality of Wrea Green. The success
of the foundation has led to the region being recently enlarged
to
encompass
the parishes neighbouring towns and parishes. For more detailed
information on the foundation and it's constitution, please
visit the "About" page
on this site.
Richard J. Wilson
Richard tragically died in a road traffic accident
on 7th December 2000, at the tender age of 19.
He came from a long line of "Richard Wilsons", well
known in and around the Fylde Coast. He was a good all round
sportsman
who kept himself in peak physical condition. He captained Kirkham
Grammar School at Rugby Union and at the time of his sad loss
was a regular for the Fylde 2nd XV with every chance of making
the first team before the end of the season.
His funeral was attended by over 600 mourners, including many
from his sporting connections and the large number of young
people in congregation demonstrated his popularity. |
